Wicca and Witchcraft |

Wicca and Witchcraft are not exactly the same although they share many of the same principles. Foremost amongst these is "An' ye harm none, do what ye will." which is the basic philosophy of being free to live as we wish as long as it causes no harm to others. Unfortunately certain other religions have spread propaganda about witchcraft for centuries leading to many false myths and spurious stories most eloquently fashioned into popular fiction. (Particularly in Hollywood films!) The truth is that Wiccans and Witches seek peace and harmony. One of the initial facts that one learns is that witches do not believe in an absolute evil, so inherently cannot be Satanists - a side-product of Christianity. Then one learns of the Rule of Three - that is that anything done towards others will be reflected threefold upon oneself - a strong incentive in itself to do only good towards others. Other fundamentals of witchcraft are equality and treating the Earth and all creatures on it with respect. Most imporant of all is that these things are not simply said, with exclusions, but are truly followed in spirit and philosophy. If only other religions and philosophies were so straightforward in their honest love. Of course, one can use wichcraft for ill, just as one can use a car to drive over somebody. The car is not inherently good or evil - it is the choice of the driver which path they follow. In the coming years, I will explore the history of Wicca and Witchcraft, the differences, the philosophies and eventually delve into the esoteric depths, though I shall do that with caution. As the progeny of a mother who practised witchcraft for many decades, I am a little cautious about simply giving information easily to those who have not learned the fundamentals.
I would like to hear any thoughts visitors here might have on the site, the subjects, and anything else of interest. You may send me telepathic messages if you like, but if that is not one of your talents, then please e-mail me.
